Modalities
Herbs + Nutrition
Herbal medicine and nutrition are part of the greater scope of Chinese medicine practice to work from within the body. We will discuss your individual health issues and goals and prescribe herbal supplementation that helps to relieve symptoms and re-balance the body by addressing the root cause.
Acupuncture + Bodywork
Acupuncture includes insertion of fine needles along targeted energetic channels of the body for therapeutic effects.
Bodywork techniques are used to massage and manipulate soft tissue, open the channels, and improve mobility, while the specific use of Chi nei tsang bodywork may be used to focus on healing the internal organs to release stuck emotions and improve digestion.
Somatic Energetics
Dr. Chung utilizes Tao of Trauma work (a blend of Somatic Experiencing and TCM theory) and intuitive knowing to bring you into a state of body awareness, or interoception, to regulate the nervous system, communicate with the areas of tension held within the body, and return with a more embodied and empowered presence.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese technique that involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool to improve circulation, release tension, and promote overall well-being. The scraping creates microtrauma in the skin and underlying tissues, which encourages increased blood flow and the body’s natural healing processes.
Cupping
Cupping therapy involves placing suction cups on the body for 10-15 min to increase blood flow and lymphatic drainage to the treated area to aid in removing toxins to promote healing and reduce pain. It can help with pain relief, inflammation and immunity, breaking up scar tissue, digestion, and stress.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy that involves burning mugwort (artermisia vulgaris) near or on specific points on the body to stimulate healing and balance energy. Moxibustion is often used alongside acupuncture to enhance therapeutic effects and address a broader range of health issues.
